AlphabeatZ - Graffiti Alphabets from A to Z
New edition in English.
Building on the success of his first book, Blackbook – hands in the alphabet , the French graffiti artist Woshe offers a new typographical guide for writers. Alphabeatz, Graffiti Alphabets from A to Z, is a real learning manual focused on the 20 consonants and 6 vowels of our alphabet, thus giving the keys to mastering the delicate art of the graffiti letter.
With his characteristic concern for clarity, Woshe divides his book into 3 parts:
• The 1st part retraces the birth of graffiti and the emergence of the drawing of letters. We thus learn how the reinvention of typography has become an essential discipline.
• The 2nd part explores the 26 letters of the alphabet with a magnifying glass. All the shapes of the letters are explained, commented on, decoded. Depending on the temperament, culture, environment or mood of the graffiti artist, these letters take on well-defined shapes. This chapter is illustrated with original typefaces drawn by the author, and others borrowed from some of the most influential writers on the international scene.
• In the 3rd and last part, Woshe interviews 10 contemporary graffiti artists renowned for their mastery of typography in their creations: Bates (Denmark), Darco (France), Dems (Spain), Geser (United States), Jurne (United States), United), Lokiss (France), Serch (Netherlands), Swet (Denmark), Sye (United States) and Zoer (France). All these interviews are richly illustrated.
An essential didactic work for all those who want to learn or progress in the realization of sketches Graffiti.
