Guide to Contemporary Urban Art 2020

The 2020 edition of the Guide to Contemporary Urban Art undeniably arrives in a unique context with its share of challenges and fears, but also with a reservoir of great promises and the genes of renewal. The reboot of festivals and monumental frescoes, put on hold for a while, the new interest in artists from areas that are too often forgotten and the accelerated digital transformation of the sector invigorate us and push us to look towards tomorrow and towards horizons up to unexplored or little explored.

This 2020 edition, like the previous ones, is the result of research, compilations and editorial choices. More space is given to muralists and artists not or little represented by galleries. About fifty talents who animate the world scene of Contemporary Urban Art are to be discovered or rediscovered.

Exhibiting the artist's Marianne Hopare on the cover may seem like a bold choice, but it is in fact a simple matter of course. If democracy is hampered by the pandemic and is suffering in these dark times, it is not gagged. The words “Freedom,
Equality and Fraternity” have never resonated with so much force and dissonance.
