Urban laughter: When street art makes humor

With street art, places have spirit. Urban artists transform the street into a theater and surprise passers-by with a smile. Through visual diversion, they play with the city and its unexpected corners to create comical images and situations. Or display joyful and poetic words that appeal to us directly. Their works can appear as bubbles of joy, enchanted and ephemeral parentheses. But they also often escape pure levity, auscultate society, seize the spaces usually devoted to advertising or political messages. Anger and worries about the state of the world then attack our walls and tint the humor black. Sophie Pujas paints a portrait of around thirty of these artists who, in turn, use laughter as breathing space and as a combat weapon.
