This print, created during the Iraq War, is an alternate phrase inspired by the popular 1960s anti-war mantra, "Make love, not war." In this case, Shepard Fairey affirms the need for creative rather than destructive acts. The Art Nouveau style of the image is a further reference to the Art Nouveau influence on hippie and psychedelic art of the 1960s, including many anti-Vietnam War posters.

Encased in a garland of flowers, the female figure appears more confident and real than ethereal. The placement of two paintbrushes under her portrait not only references a classic art production tool, but also resembles spears, which when read in conjunction with the "OBEY" directive that appears on her neck , makes the otherwise acceptable message more pointed.

61 x 91cm. Offset lithograph on cream Speckle Tone paper. Signed by Shepard Fairey. Open Edition
